Affected SASSA recipients urged to resubmit applications

A systems error within the South Africa Social Security Agency (SASSA) resulted in several social grant recipients not receiving their grants this month.

This emerged following a meeting between ward 97 councillor, Andre Beetge and SASSA officials at the Thusong Centre in Umgababa on Wednesday, 23 August.

Beetge said the Amanzimtoti public should be aware that a systems error resulted in individuals being deleted from or dropped off the system. Those affected will have to resubmit their applications, following which their profiles can be reactivated. Documents required include:

1. Several recipients across and in KZN especially, did not receive their social grants this month.

2. There was a system error that resulted in individuals being deleted from or dropped off the system.

3. Those who were effected will have to resubmit their applications, following which their profiles can be reactivated.

Documents required include:

* Copy of identity document (ID);

* Proof of address (not older than 3 months);

* Copy of spouse’s identity document (ID);

* Copy of marriage certificate;

* If divorced, copy of divorce decree;

* If widowed, copy of death certificate;

* If divorce decree or death certificate is lost, affidavit with reasons for loss;

* Three months recent bank statements;

* If spouse has an income, three months of your spouse’s bank statements;

* Statement/proof of any investments/annuity;

* Latest municipal property evaluation of properties owned irrespective whether presently occupied or on lease/rental.

“There has also been many enquiries regarding cards that are set to expire in December. We stand informed that these cards will remain valid until such time as a service provider has been announced, whereafter a grace period for renewal should be announced,” said Cllr Beetge.
