Pedestrian killed on N2 at Umkomaas

A man, believed to be in his 30s, was killed on Saturday morning, 22 April when he was knocked over by a light motor vehicle on the N2 in Umkomaas, south of Amanzimtoti.

When ER24 paramedics arrived, they found the body of the man lying in the middle of the road. The vehicle that had allegedly hit him was found parked a short distance away in the right-hand lane.

Paramedics assessed the man and found he had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life.
He was declared dead on the scene.
The three occupants from the vehicle were assessed but had escaped injury.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities will investigate.
