WATCH: Can air conditioning affect your health?

With this Durban humidity, it’s hard not to rely on the ice-cold air from the air conditioning at work, home or in your car.  It is seen as a gift from the gods!

But is it healthy to have it on all day and what happens to you if you are exposed to it daily?

According to mostinside.com the aircon can have a negative effect on your health. Being exposed to it everyday can:

Weaken your immunity: “Air conditioning creates an artificial change in temperature which is unhealthy for human immunity causing the immune system to become weaker.”

Feeling constant fatigue: When the temperature on the air-conditioner is set very low, it causes internal shivering in a person’s body and when that individual works overtime it produces more heat causing constant fatigueness which is the most crucial negative health effect of air conditioning, said the site

Sinus: A person who spends more than four hours in an air conditioned environment is more likely to get diagnosed with sinusitis infections as the chilling cold air tends to harden or dry the mucous gland.
