A taxi boss and his teenage son were shot dead on Monday morning, 14 May in Umbumbulu.
Colonel Thembeka Mbhele of the SAPS KZN media centre said it is alleged that at about 7am a 58-year-old man and his 16-year-old son were travelling in the Izinyathini area when they were attacked by unknown gunmen.
βThe suspects opened fire on them, fatally wounding the two victims. A four-year-old boy was found inside the vehicle unharmed. The motive for the attack is unknown,β said Col Mbhele.
Detectives at Umbumbulu police station have opened a case with two counts of murder. No arrests have been made.
The deceased is the Umbumbulu Taxi Association chairman and it believed he was on his way to drop off his son at school on the Bluff. It is unknown whether the four-year-old boy is related to the deceased.
