AMANZIMTOTI is clearly not only a place of sweet water but also voices, as attested to by Amanzimtoti Primary School’s placing among the top 10 finalists in the national Checkers Big Voices for Little Garden competition.
With the local primary school named among the country’s top 10, it’s now up to the public to vote for the entry they believe deserves to win the coveted title of South Africa’s best school choir.
Amanzimtoti Primary is one of five Durban-based schools to have made the top 10, along with Deutsche Schule Durban, Glenmore Primary, Berea Primary and Hillcrest Primary.
School choirs entered the competition by learning the Little Garden song, filming their performance, using any instruments of their choice, and sharing it on social media.
For Amanzimtoti Primary to advance further, they need your vote.
To vote for your favourite choir, visit https://www.checkerslittlegarden.co.za/competitions/big-vocals/ before midnight on Saturday, 3 June.
Only one vote per person is allowed.
The other top 10 finalists are Aloe Ridge Primary School (Gauteng), Eenheid Primary School (Limpopo), Port Shepstone Junior Primary School, Umhlali Preparatory School and Ya Bana Village (Gauteng).
The winning school will walk away with R30,000, while second and third place will receive R20,000 and R10,000 respectively.
