Monday, 9 July is National Sugar Cookie Day

National Sugar Cookie Day honours the ever popular and delicious sugar cookie, and is observed each year on 9 July.

Easy to make with just sugar, flour, butter, eggs, vanilla and either baking powder or baking soda, you likely have the ingredients in your cupboard. This is also a fun exercise to do with your children. Cut the dough with fun-shaped cookie cutters and then get creative with your children by decorating them with icing and sprinkles.

Nazareth in Pennsylvania is the town where the sugar cookie is believed to have originated in the mid 1700s and it is believed German Protestant settlers created the round, crumbly and buttery cookie that came to be known as the Nazareth Cookie.
