Kamalinee Primary bags prestigious awards

The Kamalinee Primary School ajudication team of Minesha Singh, principal, Jagatheesan Naidoo, Annamarie Antoinette Naicker, Loshnee Govinder and Thanjamah Pillay (grade 4 administrator) proudly show off the silver KZN Premier’s Service Excellence Awards and gold award from the KZN Department of Education.

Kamalinee Primary School started the third term on a high note after wining silver at the KZN Premier’s Service Excellence Awards 2018. The prestigious title was bestowed upon the school at a function held at the Durban ICC on Thursday, 12 July.

Kamalinee Primary also received a gold award from the KZN Department of Education (DOE) before going on to represent the KZN DOE at the Premier’s Service Excellence Awards.

The team, comprised of Thanjamah Pillay, Minesha Ash Singh, Annamarie Naicker and Loshnee Govinder, worked on an extensive portfolio showcasing the school and its Batho Pele practises.

Round two involved a vigorous six-hour interview with the committee, student governing body (SGB), parents and pupils of the school. Round three was the video presentation showcasing what the school offers in various facets of its pupils’ holistic development that was filmed at the end of the second term.

The school, which is based in the heart of Isipingo, competed against various other KZN departments such as the Department of Social Development, Department of Treasury, municipalities, Department of Health and Department of Human Settlement.
Kamalinee, however was the only school to feature from the education sector in the province.

The school has previously won KZN Excellence awards in 2013 (bronze), 2014 (silver) and 2015/16 (gold), as well as a premier award in 2015/16 (bronze). “We are proud to have received the silver award. Our next target is gold,” said Kamalinee principal, Jagatheesan Naidoo.
