Donations enable hanged man’s funeral to go ahead

Fanie Myburgh

DUE to generous donations, the memorial service for Stefanus (Fanie) Diederick Myburgh was held at the New Apostolic Church, Gus Brown Road, Warner Beach on Wednesday, 10 June

A resident of Winklespruit Caravan Park, Myburgh hanged himself outside his home on Sunday, 31 May.

The South African Family Relief Project (SAFRP) came on board to help raise funds for his funeral.

“Fanie was a soft, humble man and he will be missed,” said the organisation’s Anthony Patrick Symes, who co-ordinated fundraising efforts.

SAFRP received a letter of thanks from his wife, Melanie.

“I thank Leigh and SAFRP for their wonderful gift in making sure funds were available for the funeral. I was in great shock and did not know how we would ever be able to afford his funeral. You stepped up and got donations for his memorial and my family and I will never be able to thank you enough for what you did. Thank you for the catering after the service and thank you for all the love and compassion you continuously give to all the people in the camp, from a very grateful family, Melanie Myburgh and children.”
