Grief-stricken mom who “couldn’t dispose of her stillborn baby” left it in railway station lockers for five years

A 49-year-0ld Japanese mom has turned herself over to the police after keeping the corpse of her stillborn child in lockers at a railway station in Tokyo for “four or five years.”

Emiri Suzaki told the investigators: “I panicked after I did not give birth to a living child, and kept the body, as I could not dispose of it.”

She continued to pay the daily fee of $1,80 per day for the duration.

Police believe she moved the plastic bag, in which they found the decaying corpse, between lockers to avoid detection.

After a fallout with her boyfriend, Ms Suzaki forgot the keys to the locker at their home when she moved out.  Concerned he might turn them over to the police, she decided to hand herself in instead.

She has been arrested on suspicion of abandoning a body.
